Upside down!!

For a few days I had got it it my head that I was wanting to go for the rodeo. They had reshaped the jumps in Groove park and Heavenly and the second jump in the bigger line I felt was perfect for doing it on. I hadn't done a rodeo for a couple of years since I did it on dryslope but I know I can do it and it just seemed my body/ mind telling me that it was time and I was ready to try it on snow, I just needed to man the fuck up, haha as being upside down flying off a jump is a scary thought!!

It was getting to the point that I couldn't sleep at night I had to listen to my ipod to put my mind at ease as all I could think about was doing the trick I sent a message to a friend asking for a pep talk when I didn't really need it as I was going to do it anyway as when I get a trick in my head like that I have to do it within a few days or it drives me mad, I guess I just wanted a friendly voice giving me that vote of confidence that I had in myself too and from someone I trust.

I woke up on Monday morning with butterflies and that scary adrenalin running through me, I was on a mission and knew it was the day to go for it and I wouldn't be happy unless I did!! I straight aired grabbed and backside 360 off the jump to get the feel for it and get it in my head what I was about to do, then back to straight airs to get the speed right, not speaking to anyone I was too focused and lost in my own world. Then it was time, I handed my gopro to my friend and that was it no going back, I stood at the top of the jump line real nervous and even as I headed towards the first jump as I'd be going for it off the second I didn't think I was doing it then as the second jump approaches I just went fuck it and went for it, I came round to land my normal way which meant I'd done a rodeo 7, having only done 5's before I was super stoked and was so close to landing it but I landed waaaaay down the landing heavy on the heels which flung me onto my shoulder I broke my collar bone last year so it agrivated it meaning I had to just chill the rest of the day, filmed my friends for a bit helping them get new tricks then headed home and took the next day off riding but it was all worth it as now I know I can do a big trick like that and when my shoulder is actually fully heeled I will go for it again and stomped it for sure!! There is no better feeling than getting a trick you have been thinking about like that just doing it is an achievement in itself :)

Here's the vid of it....

Kirkwood....

Since speaking to people saying I was going to Tahoe for the season everyone has told me to go to Kirkwood as it is especially epic on a powder day, the place to be really. It was beginning to look like I wouldn't get there this season buuuut 2 weeks ago it was then announced that Vail had bought Kirkwood and season pass holders for Heavenly/ Northstar would get to ride Kirkwood with their season pass for the rest of the season, STOKED. So that same week friends of our were heading up and we got a ride with them as it's around an hour away. It was bluebird, sunny spring slush day so you have to watch where your going and not venture into the trees really as pretty dangerous with rocks/ boulders showing but man you could see the possibilities and greatness of this mountain and how it would indeed be EPIC on a pow day. We found the park which consisted of 2 jumps on one run and then at another section an area of boxes/ rails set up in lines of varying difficulty which was fun, Jade was stoked to do her first run of 4 boxes as they had a good section of easy ride on ones, although she did do an unintentional Michael Jackson to bail off one, haha!!

We then went to Kirkwood a couple of days ago, another bluebird sunny day but this time they had powder with all the snow we've got this week, we went to the backside and rode there almost all day and it is so sick. There was even a windlip which has started to form and fresh pow lines to be had everywhere and through the trees, such a fun day exploring the mountain :D

Here's some photo's of the mountain....

A screen shot I'm stoked with :)....

Wind Hold Daaaay....

On Wednesday we took the day off riding as it was super windy with big gusts down in town so you know it's going to be super bad up the mountain!! So what to do.... Well Jade has never got to play in the snow, crazy huh. Soooo as we have got lot's and lot's of snow over the past week it was the deepest it has been outside our house the snow was deep outside our back door so first thing to tick off the list was for Jade to fall into the snow and do a snow angel, followed by me helping her to make an epic 3 tier pirate snowman, we were all superstoked with how it turned out :) Although the weather has got super warm again and back to bluebird sunny days so the snowman has started to melt and has positioned itself at a funny angle, I just think that he is drunk, haha!! We named our snowman Swashy as he is a swashbuckling gnarly pirate :) This was then followed by me teaching Luci and Jade how to make a cinnabon cake and then Jade has spoken about making a fort the whole time we have been in the house so a fort was built too!! But taken down the next day as Luci, Swashy and I ganged up on Jade in an epic pirate battle, we won of course and tore the fort down, mwuhahahahahahahahaha much the disappointment of Jade!! Jade filmed the whole day as a time lapse and I'll help her turn it into an edit for now here's some photo's....

Boarderline in Tahoe....

Blacked Out :(....

So a couple of weekends ago I was blacked out as it was presidents day weekend but all good as you wouldn't want to be up there anyway as it would be super busy and I hadn't had a day off for a long time so my body could've done with a rest anyway, well one day by the 2nd day I was just wanting to head up and shreeeeeeeed........ Jade and Luci had headed to Santa Barbara with friends for a few days so I was all alone!! So I mainly chilled on the Saturday and got a fried pork burritto from a place called brothers famous for them and it was gooood, mmmm burritto :) On the Sunday the clouds had disappeared and it was an awesome sunny bluebird day perfect for a photo mission so I wondered down by the lake and I was stoked with some of the shots I took :) Oh and I used skype for the very first time and spoke to my parents, haha after all this time traveling and I finally use it, pretty cool to see people so far away and speak to them :) Here's some photo's from my photo mission....
