Nomis Comp....

Nomis had a comp where you downloaded the template of hoody and T-shirt and came up with a design, here's the design I entered....

Work Experience....

I was lucky to get a 2 week unpaid work experience at PSN with the graphic designers there, it is a small team of them but learnt so much over that 2 weeks and got some cool things to work on. Here's some of the work I did over that 2 weeks for them :)

I made the ripped effect paper in photoshop!!

Stock photo's were used for these posters....

Product Design....

The course I did at uni/ art school was Design for Industry which is basically Product Design, as well as learning the design process from initial area of interest to research to concepts to prototypes to final designs, we also did critical studies, management, marketing, consumer psychology, working in the workshop to make models, learning about different materials and processes for making our models, graphic design for our promo material, really it was an all round course where you learnt everything in a way!! It is hard to get a job once leaving but leaves you with a wealth of knowledge and the ability to set your own business up if you so wish. I'm not sure where the rest of my files are from the products I designed but here's a few images 2 of posters for projects with the object I designed and the other an image of my final years project models....

3D Modeling on Computer....

We got taught how to use a 3D modeling program on the computer called Rhino, you could make cool things on it but it was a pain for it always crashing so you had to make sure you were constantly saving your work, we then had to make a themed 3d image that had at least 5 objects in it, I chose a guitar, amp, etc, I do like to make things hard for myself as it would seem, but am happy with how it turned out, just a lot of work and shouting at the computer, haha!!!!

Model Making....

So I am posting up my artwork on my blog too because well it's a big part of who I am too and you never know someone might see it and might offer me some work, haha!!

First year at uni we were given a project where you had to pick any object you wanted and make 3 replica models of it using 3 different materials. Now don't ask me why as I don't even know why but I chose a pipe cutter, random I now and tricky to make but I did it and out of blue foam, cappa board and pine wood....

Another project we were given was we were given an object, I was given a mini stapler and we had to make a replica model of it but 5 times the size!! We could make it out of any material we wanted and I thought a pine wood one would look awesome, but turns out hard to make, especially trying to hollow it out, haha, but was stoked with how it turned out....

Halloween Poster....

For a Halloween fundraising event, final year at uni....

Some Magazine Designs....

A good few years ago now, maybe longer a friend wanted to start a local magazine that I would be involved in doing to, mainly the graphics side of things but it never came to anything although I did do a lot of work with the design so figured I'd post it up to show I do a variety of designing stuff. There is also a couple of other cover designs for magazines she had the idea for....

Some Art/ Graphics Work....

When I worked at Aberdeen Snowsports Centre I got the opportunity to put my creative side to use by getting the opportunity to design some posters to advertise events for them and have recently finished one for their new Winter Mountain School, here they are....

This is to advertise the slopes very own airbag

For a girls coaching night at the slope

For an Open Day at the slope

Just a random design I came up with that was never used when they were thinking on making t-shirts, haha!!

The most recent for their Winter Mountain School, be sure to check it out this Winter :)

Hi Ho Hi Ho it's off to the Lecht we go....

So today I headed up to the Lecht with Katie Guthrie who has not been riding in over a year because she was away traveling with her boyfriend Ryan and they were in sunny New Zealand surfing this time last year!! I never actually ridden with her either so stoked on that and we met up with her friend Scott, was real quiet and was fun just blasting around. Katie was using my Bataleon board which is a 147 and she's used to riding a 143 so was adjusting to the feel of riding a bigger board but her Nugget is on the way so will be going from one extreme to the other, haha!! I was riding my Capita for the first time and loved it, it does everything, real poppy and buttery while being solid and stable at high speeds and is rad at carving and steeps just all round super board :D

Started snowing for our last few runs too before heading off, everyone staring at us when I revved the engine a bit too much on reversing out of the car park, ah what a funny drive, hehehehe!!!!

Here's a photo to show how stoked Katie was after her first run....

Mr AWSM.... Torstein Horgmo....

So it is no surprise to anyone who knows me how much I love Torstein Horgmo :) Last season he really upped his game with his website and edits showing amazing riding tunes and humour so much variety getting you stoked to go out there and shred and above all have fun while doing it. The games of in your face with everyone eagerly awaiting the next and wondering who his next sparring partner would be ending in the game of all games the one we'd all been waiting for, so much so it even got it's own teaser.... Mr Lobster himself.... Halldor Helgason.... annnnd you know what Torstein is BACK already with a series of edits each different and just as awesomely rad as the last, oh I look forward to seeing what he comes up with throughout the season :D
Check it out....

and here's the first edit he dropped, oh yes he's BACK :D

Insane....

Billy Morgan now UK legendary snowboarder always showing off his acrobatic skills and it has paid off with him landing a triple rodeo at Keystone mountain yesterday, stomped on his first try just doing some doubles to warm up you know easy as that!! This is only the beginning of the season too and with the likes of Aimee Fuller and Jamie Nicholls winning comps and showing awesome skills already, I have a feeling this is going to be one banger of a season for UK snowboarding showing we can be just as much of a force to be reckoned with as any other national team out there from the big hitting countries of riders!!

Check the triple here....

theroofbox....

So a dude I know through snowboarding is back in Morzine for his second season there with his mates, they've set up a blog/ website to document it and already have a couple of sweet vids up on it!! So here's the link and be sure to check it out over the winter season....

Some things I've been doing lately....

So a couple of weeks ago I went to an intro thing to avalanche awareness at the dryslope that a guy from Craigdon mountain sports was there to talk about the various equipmet and how it is used. We got to try out using the transceivers as he hid one and we had to go try locate it. Was really good to have explained how they work giving you a better understanding!!

Also happening on the Friday of that week was the return of the girls night sessions, usually ran on the first Friday of each month during the winter season. I used to coach this along with Beth when I worked at the slope and because I was here for it I offered to volunteer my services to help coach the girls as it's something I enjoy doing. There was a big turn out of snowboarders and skiers, some learning for the first time on the nursery slope and others on the main slope get to grips with riding on their boards again while also learning some freestyle. I was helping them out on the box and was stoked at how well all the girls did and special shout out to Avril pringle who was not scared to just got for it and got some sick boardslides :) A big thing that you find especially with boxes or rails they can seem real intimidating due to them being hard and metal but if you break it down into steps and help them initially it builds up the confidence and their heading onto the with more speed and by themselves in no time and wanting to learn their next trick on them and that's what I like to see and feed off when coaching people as there's nothing worse than someone who just won't try or push themselves as you begin to question why their there and with that mentality you will never progress. I have come across people like that of all ages and gender but luckily for me we had a confident group of girls turn up eager to learn and try things for themselves, props to you all and keep practicing :)

So the girls night ran from 17:30-19:30 and then it was a quick change and kindly picked up by my dad and dropped off at the Belmont cinema to see the showing of the Art Of Flight on the big screen at 20:00. I had seen this film a good few times as have got a copy of it but was good seeing it on the big screen for sure!! I hung around a little after for the raffle then headed home.

The following Monday I then headed to watch a couple of snowboard films being shown at the Carmellite Hotel, one was a uk jib scene vid and the other a big mountain, pow, drops, jumps, urban, rails by the YES guys, bothe good in their own way and the first showing footage of a couple of local rail slayers Jon Addison and Andy Laird, nice one guys :)

and that will be all for now....

Mosaic photo....

This summer I think it was I got an e-mail from Steven Gunn who was one of the guys I was in Japan with, he sent me this rad mosaic photo of Barry, Craig and I on the subway over there made up from all the photo's of our time in Japan so I am sharing it with all you guys cause it's cool :)....

Start of the Scottish Season, woooo :)....

So Saturday saw the first day of the Scottish season with the Lecht, Glenshee and Cairngorms all open. Not all lifts and runs were open but a decent amount to have fun on and get stoked on the beginning of the season finally being upon us :) Way better coverage than I thought there would be and a lil pow too. Headed up with my brother who has not been riding for long so was stoked to ride with him on snow and he was better than I expected making for a fun day of riding, awesome weather/ conditions couldn't have asked for a better day :) Check the edit....

Snow Dive :)....

So just remembered about this footage from last season in Japan where I dived out the second floor window into snow, haha, first jump I didn't go deep enough because the snow was slightly harder than I thought, then after running round the building and back up I dived again this time into a softer pile of snow so sunk down deeper!! Fun and games and brain freeze :)

Sketchy....

So I've not drawn properly in a while now, I doodle and come up with crazy characters but have not drawn so spent the day yesterday drawing a couple of portraits of 2 rad bro's who snowboard and ski at the slope and give it to their parents who do so much for them in supporting them with what they do through their sports. Stoked with how they turned out :)
