Some things I've been doing lately....

So a couple of weeks ago I went to an intro thing to avalanche awareness at the dryslope that a guy from Craigdon mountain sports was there to talk about the various equipmet and how it is used. We got to try out using the transceivers as he hid one and we had to go try locate it. Was really good to have explained how they work giving you a better understanding!!

Also happening on the Friday of that week was the return of the girls night sessions, usually ran on the first Friday of each month during the winter season. I used to coach this along with Beth when I worked at the slope and because I was here for it I offered to volunteer my services to help coach the girls as it's something I enjoy doing. There was a big turn out of snowboarders and skiers, some learning for the first time on the nursery slope and others on the main slope get to grips with riding on their boards again while also learning some freestyle. I was helping them out on the box and was stoked at how well all the girls did and special shout out to Avril pringle who was not scared to just got for it and got some sick boardslides :) A big thing that you find especially with boxes or rails they can seem real intimidating due to them being hard and metal but if you break it down into steps and help them initially it builds up the confidence and their heading onto the with more speed and by themselves in no time and wanting to learn their next trick on them and that's what I like to see and feed off when coaching people as there's nothing worse than someone who just won't try or push themselves as you begin to question why their there and with that mentality you will never progress. I have come across people like that of all ages and gender but luckily for me we had a confident group of girls turn up eager to learn and try things for themselves, props to you all and keep practicing :)

So the girls night ran from 17:30-19:30 and then it was a quick change and kindly picked up by my dad and dropped off at the Belmont cinema to see the showing of the Art Of Flight on the big screen at 20:00. I had seen this film a good few times as have got a copy of it but was good seeing it on the big screen for sure!! I hung around a little after for the raffle then headed home.

The following Monday I then headed to watch a couple of snowboard films being shown at the Carmellite Hotel, one was a uk jib scene vid and the other a big mountain, pow, drops, jumps, urban, rails by the YES guys, bothe good in their own way and the first showing footage of a couple of local rail slayers Jon Addison and Andy Laird, nice one guys :)

and that will be all for now....
